Bay Area Biosystematists Meeting: Thursday, 13 March, 2008
at Sonoma State University, Darwin Hall 103.
Evolutionary consequences of biological invasions
Humans have brought thousands of species to new parts of the globe, and some of those species have had huge ecological effects on the new communities and habitats that they colonize. Much research focuses on the ecological effects of invasive introduced species, but fewer studies have focused on their evolutionary consequences. Speakers at this session will describe three cases where evolutionary consequences of biological invasions can be described, and examine the evolutionary changes that have already occurred. Program organized by Nathan Rank of Sonoma State University.
Speakers:
Nathan Rank, Sonoma State University
Kevin Rice, UC-Davis
Brad Shaffer, UC-Davis
