Bob is a fourth year graduate student in
Brad Shaffer's Lab at the University of California, Davis. He works on phylogenetics and species delimitation in turtles, in particular on a genus called Graptemys (Map Turtles). A major focus of Bob's research is developing and utilizing new molecular and informatic tools, particularly those geared toward increasing the use of genomic resources in non-model organisms. When not writing code or working at the lab bench, he spends his time turtling in the Southeastern US and looking for impossible to find
herps.
Bob was a student at the Bodega workshop in 2006 and came back as an instructor in 2007 and 2008. Before the 2008 workshop, he put together this wiki as a means to distribute course materials to students, and now - in collaboration with other course participants - is developing it as a general resource for the phylogenetics community.
